The Department of Agriculture Agricultural Marketing Service awarded a $19 million Project Grant under the Dairy Business Innovation Initiatives (CFDA 10.176) federal grant program to the University of Tennessee from September 2022 to September 2026. The grant will support the Southeast Dairy Business Innovation Initiative, which provides services to value-added dairy producers across 12 Southeastern states. $9.5 million of the funding will be distributed through a competitive sub-award program for up to 40 value-added dairy enterprises. Additional services include training opportunities in dairy production, animal husbandry, economics, marketing, and business leadership. Sub-awards were provided to 14 dairy businesses and organizations across the region for infrastructure upgrades, herd health improvements, and other modernization efforts to support business growth and efficiency.
