The City of Montgomery, Alabama received a $7.61 million project grant award from the U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Transit Administration under the Federal Transit Formula Grants program (CFDA 20.507) on February 24, 2021. The grant will fund Montgomery Area Transit System operating and preventative maintenance activities from the award date through March 30, 2028 in the Montgomery urbanized area. The Federal Transit Formula Grants program makes federal funding available to local and regional governments for transit capital, operating assistance, and transportation planning in urbanized areas. This particular award will support Montgomery Area Transit System operations and maintenance through 2028 using CARES Act funding to address needs arising from the COVID-19 pandemic.
