Rowan University will establish a Black Humanities in Education initiative through history and culture project with $133,748 in funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities' Promotion of the Humanities Teaching and Learning Resources and Curriculum Development program. The initiative aims to develop and disseminate content knowledge on African American history and culture for pre-service and in-service teachers through three objectives: embedding a newly established undergraduate certificate in African American studies for future educators; creating a hybrid graduate course examining the U.S. black experience; and sharing resources with educators and community participants. The project will run from February 1, 2023 to December 31, 2024.
