The Department of the Interior Bureau of Indian Affairs Central Office awarded $147,549 to the La Jolla Band of Luiseno Indians through the Tribal Climate Resilience federal grant program (CFDA 15.156) for the project "FIRE-BRINGING BALANCE BACK TO THE LAND" from August 16, 2021 to August 15, 2023.
Under this Project Grant, the La Jolla Band of Luiseno Indians will utilize funding to better understand potential impacts and vulnerabilities of communities, ecosystems and built systems to climate change and enable tribal governments and trust land managers to take action to increase climate resilience, as outlined in the Tribal Climate Resilience program description. The award will also support the Band in understanding and addressing wildfire risks and impacts on lands located in Pauma Valley, California.
