The South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) was awarded a $2,167,936 Project Grant from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 9 under the Targeted Airshed Grant Program (TAGP, CFDA #66.956). The grant will fund implementation of a Commercial Lawn and Garden Equipment Incentive and Exchange Program to reduce emissions of ozone and fine particulate matter (PM 2.5) precursors in Coachella Valley and Riverside County, California through March 2027. The program allows participants to exchange gasoline- or diesel-powered commercial equipment for new zero-emission alternatives, targeting a large source of harmful emissions in nonattainment areas. Direct beneficiaries include local residents who will have decreased exposure to air pollution. No subawards are included under this assistance agreement to SCAQMD. The anticipated outcomes are reduced emissions through the incentive program in the targeted region.
