DESCRIPTION:THIS INFRASTRUCTURE INVESTMENT AND JOBS ACT (IIJA) ASSISTANCE AGREEMENT WILL PROVIDE TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE (E.G., INFORMATION, TRAINING, EXPERT ADVICE) USING P2 PRACTICES TO ADDRESS ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE CONCERNS AND IMPROVE HUMAN HEALTH AND THE ENVIRONMENT IN DISADVANTAGED COMMUNITIES. SPECIFICALLY, THE PROJECT INTENDS TO PROVIDE INFORMATION ABOUT THE HARMFUL IMPACTS OF LEADED AVGAS AND CHILDHOOD LEAD POISONING. ADDITIONALLY, THE PROJECT WILL PROVIDE TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO GENERAL AVIATION AIRPORTS IN CALIFORNIA LOCATED IN DISADVANTAGED COMMUNITIES TO SUPPORT THE TRANSITION FROM LEADED TO UNLEADED AVGAS. ACTIVITIES:THE PRIORITIES AND GOALS OF THE P2 GRANT ARE TO DOCUMENT AN INCREASE IN THE NUMBER OF GENERAL AVIATION AIRPORTS IN DISADVANTAGED CALIFORNIA COMMUNITIES THAT OFFER UNLEADED AVGAS FROM FIVE TO THIRTY. SPECIFICALLY, ACTIVITIES WILL INCLUDE ROUNDTABLE TRAINING, EDUCATIONAL FACT SHEETS, AND CASE STUDIES DEVELOPED TO PROVIDE UP-TO-DATE INFORMATION ABOUT THE INCREASED AVAILABILITY OF UNLEADED AVGAS, THE DECREASE IN LEAD EXPOSURE IN DISADVANTAGED COMMUNITIES BY THE ADOPTION OF UNLEADED AVGAS, AND AN INITIAL LIST OF POTENTIAL BARRIERS AND SOLUTIONS TO THE SALE OF UNLEADED AVGAS AT GENERAL AVIATION AIRPORTS IN DISADVANTAGED COMMUNITIES. SUBRECIPIENT:NO SUBAWARDS ARE INCLUDED IN THIS ASSISTANCE AGREEMENT.OUTCOMES:THE TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE ANTICIPATED UNDER THE GRANT IS EXPECTED TO PROVIDE THE FOLLOWING P2 DELIVERABLES, AND ANTICIPATED OUTPUTS AND OUTCOMES TO SUPPORT TARGETED DISADVANTAGED COMMUNITIES. SPECIFICALLY, THE GRANTEE ANTICIPATES PROVIDING TRAINING, EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS, AND CASE STUDIES ABOUT THE HARMFUL IMPACTS OF LEADED AVGAS TO ASSIST DISADVANTAGED COMMUNITIES IN THE REDUCTION OF HARMFUL LEAD EMISSIONS THAT CONTRIBUTES TO CHILDHOOD LEAD POISONING AND THE BENEFITS OF TRANSITIONING FROM LEADED AVGAS TO UNLEADED AVGAS. ADDITIONALLY, EXPECTED OUTCOMES WILL BE FOCUSED ON THE ADOPTION OF UNLEADED AVGAS AT AIRPORTS LOCATED NEAR DISADVANTAGED COMMUNITIES AND TO DOCUMENT AN INCREASE IN THE NUMBER OF GENERAL AVIATION AIRPORTS IN DISADVANTAGED CALIFORNIA COMMUNITIES THAT OFFER UNLEADED AVGAS FROM FIVE TO THIRTY. DIRECT BENEFICIARIES WILL INCLUDE GENERAL AVIATION AIRPORT BUSINESSES AND MANAGEMENT, PILOTS AND AIRCREW, AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS.
