Federal Grant Award Summary

The University of Colorado received a $175,390 Project Grant from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Science Mission Directorate under the Science program (CFDA 43.001), awarded April 1, 2026, with completion targeted for March 31, 2029. The award supports the execution of a balanced science program aligned with discipline-specific guidance from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine, administrative priorities, and congressional direction. The University of Colorado, through its Boulder, Colorado facility, will serve as a key partner and enabler in advancing NASA's scientific objectives across one or more research domains supported by the Science Mission Directorate.

Under the Science program, the University of Colorado will likely contribute research capabilities in areas such as astrophysics, biological and physical sciences, Earth science, heliophysics, or planetary science. The deliverables are expected to include theoretical modeling, data analysis, laboratory experiments, and publication of scientific results in peer-reviewed journals consistent with standard outputs from the Science program's competitive research initiatives. This award builds on the university's extensive portfolio of federal research partnerships, including substantial existing collaborations with NASA on space life science research and microgravity investigations.
