The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) awarded a $295,634 Project Grant under the USAID Foreign Assistance for Programs Overseas (CFDA 98.001) federal grant program to Fundacion Caritas De El Salvador, a non-profit organization, to strengthen and build systems to mitigate the impact of disasters in El Salvador over a 36-month period from Oct 1, 2024 to Sep 30, 2027.
The grant funding will support Fundacion Caritas De El Salvador in carrying out activities to improve the resilience of vulnerable communities to natural disasters, strengthen the national civil protection system, and engage local communities in community-led disaster risk reduction processes in various departments of El Salvador such as Morazan, Sonsonate, and Ahuachapan. This includes providing affected households with knowledge, skills, social capital, and assets to effectively manage risks, recover from shocks, and increase their resilience to future extreme weather events.
