This $999,000 Project Grant awarded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) under the Foreign Assistance for Programs Overseas (CFDA 98.001) program will support the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in identifying sexual exploitation and abuse risk factors, as well as conducting research to improve community-based complaints mechanisms. The grant will fund UNICEF's work in South Sudan over an 18-month period from July 2023 to January 2025. As a leading provider of humanitarian and developmental assistance to children in over 190 countries, UNICEF has a strong track record of implementing grant-funded programs aligned with key USAID priorities, such as health, nutrition, and emergency relief efforts. This award builds on UNICEF's extensive experience managing federal grants, including over $1.5B in awards from USAID, the CDC, and the State Department since 2005.
