Federal Grant Award Summary

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) awarded the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) $757,033.98 under the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (CFDA 97.039) on May 19, 2026, with a completion date of September 30, 2026. This Project Grant supports hazard mitigation initiatives designed to reduce the risk of future damage, loss of life, and property in areas affected by major disasters. The work is being performed in Melrose, Tennessee, where TEMA, as the primary state-level emergency management entity, will coordinate and implement mitigation activities to enhance community resilience and infrastructure protection.

Under the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program, TEMA will likely distribute a portion of these funds to sub-recipients such as local governments, municipalities, and counties across Tennessee to implement localized mitigation projects. Typical activities supported through this program include infrastructure repairs and upgrades, emergency planning enhancements, hazard mitigation plan development, property acquisition in high-risk zones, and disaster recovery initiatives. As the pass-through entity, TEMA will manage the overall coordination of these hazard mitigation efforts to strengthen disaster resilience across the state.
