The U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) awarded the Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority ("the Authority") a $3,498,706.67 Project Grant under the Airport Improvement Program (CFDA 20.106). The grant will fund the second phase of construction and infrastructure improvements at McGhee Tyson Airport in Knoxville, Tennessee. Specifically, the project will construct a 538-foot service road, expand the terminal apron by 21,750 square yards, and install 11 flood lights on the apron to improve visibility. This work expands the airport's capacity and enhances safety for ground operations. The Authority has received over $90 million in FAA grant funding for various airport improvement projects through this program in recent years.
