This $10,472,582.22 federal Project Grant, awarded on September 12, 2023 by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), will fund the reconfiguration of Taxiways A and D at Taxiway E at an airport in Savoy, Illinois. The project aims to eliminate a non-standard taxiway intersection and bring the taxiway design up to FAA standards, as recommended in a recent Runway Safety Action Team report. A University of Illinois sub-award of $4,793,982 will support the "Taxiway - Midfield Intersection Reconfiguration" component of the overall project. This funding is provided under the FAA's Airport Improvement Program, COVID-19 Airports Programs, and Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act Programs (CFDA 20.106), which supports the development and improvement of the nationwide system of public-use airports.
