The Department of Transportation Federal Aviation Administration awarded a $2,985,091 Project Grant to the Monterey Peninsula Airport District under the Airport Improvement Program, COVID-19 Airports Programs, and Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act Programs (CFDA 20.106). The grant will fund the design phase of constructing a new 80,000 square yard terminal apron to accommodate increased use of general aviation facilities at airports associated with Monterey, California. The apron construction is intended to provide additional capacity for general aviation activities at the airport through Jul 29, 2025. The Airport Improvement Program aims to maintain and develop a safe and efficient nationwide system of public-use airports that meet both present and future needs of civil aeronautics.
