The County of Humboldt, California will receive $14.8 million from the Federal Aviation Administration under the Airport Improvement Program, COVID-19 Airports Programs, and Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act Programs (CFDA 20.106) to rehabilitate runway lighting and the runway at airports associated with Arcata, California. Work will be performed from August 2022 through August 2026 and includes rehabilitating over 6,000 feet of existing runway 14/32 to maintain structural integrity and minimize foreign object debris, as well as rehabilitating the existing runway lighting system that has reached the end of its useful life to enhance safety during low visibility conditions. This project grant funding will support improving airport infrastructure to benefit the Arcata area.
