The Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service awarded the Montana Office of Public Instruction $541,924 on September 30, 2025, under the Child Nutrition-Technology Innovation Grant program (CFDA 10.541) to develop, improve, and maintain automated information technology systems supporting Child Nutrition Programs including the National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program, Summer Food Service Program, Summer EBT, and Child and Adult Care Food Program.
The award funds training and technology initiatives delivered in Montana through the award period ending September 30, 2028. All obligated funds must be expended and program activities completed by the end of the award period, with grant closeout occurring no later than 120 days thereafter. The Montana Office of Public Instruction administers Child Nutrition Programs statewide and distributes the majority of its federal grant funds through sub-awards to local educational agencies, school districts, charter schools, and community organizations.
