This $140,095 Project Grant, awarded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) Geosciences program (CFDA 47.050), will support the "COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH: ELEMENTS - A TRANSPARENT-MIDDLE-LAYER COMPUTATIONAL AND DATA MANAGEMENT INFRASTRUCTURE FOR SYNOPTIC APPLICATIONS OF COSMOGENIC-NUCLIDE GEOCHEMISTRY" project. The project aims to expand the capabilities of the Informal Cosmogenic-nuclide Exposure-Age Database (ICE-D) by implementing support for sophisticated surface processes like dating now-buried surfaces, in addition to exposure dating. This will enable higher-order analyses of cosmogenic-nuclide measurements that underpin research on earth surface processes, including reconstructing past sea level fluctuations, assessing seismic hazards, and constraining global climate patterns. The project will also undertake a workshop program to train the user community and institute an undergraduate research program. The award, effective January 1, 2026, has a planned completion date of December 31, 2028.
