The National Science Foundation (NSF) awarded a $199,620 project grant under the STEM Education program (CFDA 47.076) to The University Of Kentucky Research Foundation. The grant aims to develop, implement, study, and disseminate a model to advance the career success of historically underrepresented minority (URM) postdoctoral scholars and early-career faculty in engineering. The project, titled "COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH: THE AGEP ENGINEERING ALLIANCE", brings together four universities - Georgia Institute of Technology, Florida A&M University, Rice University, and University of Colorado Colorado Springs - to provide URM postdocs with mentoring, professional development, and skills to transition into faculty positions. The model also addresses the needs of early-career engineering faculty by offering training in teaching pedagogy, grant-writing, and student mentoring. The project will conduct research on engineering PhD graduates' career pathways and higher education engineering program policies and practices. The University Of Kentucky Research Foundation will serve as the prime awardee, overseeing the collaborative project, evaluation, and dissemination efforts.
