The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) of Pennsylvania received a $445,880 Project Grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service under the Forest Health Protection (CFDA 10.680) program. The goal of this multi-year project, which runs from July 1, 2025 to June 26, 2030, is to protect Pennsylvania's state forest lands from significant loss of economic, ecological, or aesthetic value due to insects, diseases, and other forest health stressors. The project will provide direct assistance to non-federal land managers, producers, private forest landowners, and municipalities to facilitate the surveying and monitoring of forest health conditions, and carry out treatments to protect forests and trees on non-federal public and private lands from threats like the hemlock woolly adelgid, sudden oak death, and spongy moth. This project will cooperatively set priorities and implement management programs on state, private, and municipal forest lands that directly and indirectly benefit the health of federal forest land and the nation's forests.
