The U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service awarded a $283,000 Project Grant under the Cooperative Forestry Assistance Program (CFDA 10.664) to the American Bird Conservancy (ABC), a non-profit organization. The grant, awarded on September 9, 2024, supports a project to protect public parks in southeast Wisconsin from the cascading effects of the Emerald Ash Borer. Specifically, the funding will be used to mitigate Emerald Ash Borer impacts and restore forest structure, function, and resiliency at Homestead Hollow County Park, Sauk Creek Nature Preserve, and Valley Creek Riparian Corridor. ABC has sub-awarded a portion of the grant to Stantec Consulting Services Inc. to assist with this effort. The project is scheduled for completion by August 3, 2027.
