This $7,980,972 federal Project Grant award to Life & Discovery Inc., operating as the Asian American Center of Frederick (AACF), was provided by the U.S. Department of Labor's Employment and Training Administration under the Registered Apprenticeship program (CFDA 17.285). The grant supports AACF's initiatives to expand, diversify, and modernize registered apprenticeship opportunities across various industries, with a focus on underrepresented populations. Key services delivered through this funding include developing new apprenticeship programs, creating pre-apprenticeship pipelines, and increasing access to workforce training in sectors like healthcare, IT, education, clean energy, manufacturing, and construction. The award period runs from Jul 1, 2024 to Jun 30, 2028. As a sub-awardee, AACF will leverage its expertise in community-based programming to help connect individuals, particularly Asian Americans and other minority groups, with skilled career pathways through this registered apprenticeship initiative.
