This $137,496 Project Grant award from the National Science Foundation's Geosciences Program (CFDA 47.050) will fund a new technician position at North Carolina State University's (NC State) Paleo Isotope Laboratory (PIL). The technician will support clumped isotope research, instrument training, and STEM outreach activities. Specifically, the technician will assist with managing and repairing specialized instrumentation, conducting data collection and experimental design for carbonate standard and clumped isotope studies, and training students and visiting researchers in isotope systematics and applications. The technician's work will contribute to ongoing and future NSF-funded projects focused on resolving past climate conditions and ecosystem impacts. This position will create a hub for clumped isotope geochemistry analysis at NC State, strengthening scientific resources across the region and making the PIL's capabilities more accessible for external applied research projects. The technician will also support public outreach efforts to connect local youth to STEM opportunities and share insights on Earth's history. The award period is from April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2030.
