The National Science Foundation (NSF) awarded a $300,000 Project Grant under the STEM Education (CFDA 47.076) program to a collaborative of three Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) - Prairie View A&M University, Central State University, and Alabama A&M University. The goal of the "Advancing Semiconductor Education through Expansion and Diversification (ASEED)" initiative is to enhance semiconductor research and education by addressing challenges faced by minority-serving institutions. The project focuses on three key research areas: 2D semiconductor nanomaterials, AI chip design, and GaN-based ultra-wide bandgap semiconductor devices. The collaborative effort aims to develop new certificate programs, specialized academic tracks, and hands-on laboratory experiences to cultivate a skilled and diverse workforce in semiconductor technology. Through industry partnerships, the initiative also provides students with valuable exposure and career opportunities in the semiconductor sector.
