This $199,974 federal Project Grant award from the National Science Foundation's STEM Education program (CFDA 47.076) will support an educational instrumentation project at San Francisco State University (SFSU) to strengthen undergraduate learning in computer science and engineering. The project will secure 10 VR workstations with latest VR headsets and tracking devices, as well as a large portable 3D wall display setup. This equipment will allow an estimated 400-450 students and 5 faculty per year to build expertise in VR tools, systems, and technologies, and reinforce engineering theory across various computer science and engineering courses. The project aims to foster cross-departmental collaboration at SFSU's College of Science and Engineering and increase opportunities for a diverse community of STEM students to engage with state-of-the-art virtual reality technology. The award period is from December 1, 2024 to November 30, 2026.
