This $813,699 federal Project Grant awarded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) under its Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CFDA 47.070) program will fund the "HARMONY FOR RESEARCH COMPUTING: A GREEN COMPUTE SOLUTION" project at the University of Massachusetts (UMass). The project aims to establish a high-capacity, energy-efficient research computing cluster called "Harmony" that will expand equitable access to computing resources for researchers and educators across New England. Harmony will leverage efficient ARM-based CPUs and NVIDIA GPUs to provide cost-effective, low-power computing infrastructure to support large job ensembles, interactive workloads, and persistent services critical for a broad range of scientific domains and educational settings. The award period runs from November 2024 through October 2026. No sub-awards are planned under this grant.
