The National Science Foundation (NSF) awarded a $299,022 project grant under the NSF Technology, Innovation, and Partnerships (CFDA 47.084) program to DePaul University. The grant aims to develop a community-centered design and development framework for an AI-powered platform that will match displaced and vulnerable populations with appropriate integration services and resources. The 2-year project (10/1/2024 - 9/30/2026) will: 1) establish a stakeholder engagement process to assess needs and collect data for a personalized recommendation system; 2) pilot an iterative machine learning model design framework to integrate stakeholder feedback; and 3) leverage the planning grant results to propose scaling the community-centered AI platform to broadly support vulnerable populations. DePaul University will leverage its expertise in computer science, data science, and community-based research to deliver this project.
