This $300,000 federal Project Grant awarded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) Division of Physics under the Mathematical and Physical Sciences program (CFDA 47.049) will enable the "EAGER: ADVANCING STEM EQUITY THROUGH INCREASED ACCESS AND MEANINGFUL ENGAGEMENT AT THE ZEUS LASER FACILITY" project at the University of Michigan. The project aims to increase access and engagement in STEM at the NSF's 3 petawatt ZEUS laser user facility by designing a hands-on learning space, interactive exhibits, and comprehensive educational programming. This will expand the accessibility and impact of the ZEUS facility, allowing it to engage a broader and more diverse audience of students, especially those for whom facility visits may be a barrier. The project will also develop assessment tools to understand the unique impacts on different learners and guide future program enhancements. This award will run from July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2026.
