The National Science Foundation (NSF) awarded a $212,983 Project Grant under the Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CFDA 47.070) program to the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) to develop and disseminate self-contained interactive exercises using a web-based programming environment. These exercises aim to introduce formal methods in computer science, which can increase the reliability and robustness of software and hardware designs, to various STEM communities and courses beyond just computer science. The project will create these interactive exercises to cover standard course topics in areas such as introductory programming, engineering design, digital system design, databases, and artificial intelligence, allowing instructors to easily incorporate them into their curricula without additional time or effort. The project period runs from October 1, 2024, to September 30, 2027, and will impact students across RIT, the College of the Holy Cross, and Monroe Community College.
