The National Science Foundation (NSF) awarded a $239,999 Project Grant under the Engineering program (CFDA 47.041) to Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi for the "Center for Growing Ocean Energy Technologies and the Blue Economy (GO BLUE)". This 5-year, multi-university Industry-University Cooperative Research Center (IUCRC) will conduct faculty-driven, industry-relevant basic and use-inspired research focused on creating new knowledge and innovations to support the marine energy ecosystem. Key research thrusts include marine energy technology for renewable energy production, powering the blue economy, and addressing societal acceptance, economic viability, and environmental sustainability. The center will leverage expertise from over 30 faculty and researchers across the University of Michigan, Stevens Institute of Technology, and Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi to tackle challenges in electrical, mechanical, civil, ocean, materials, and environmental engineering related to harnessing energy from tides, waves, and coastal/offshore winds. No sub-awards are planned under this grant.
