The National Science Foundation (NSF) awarded The Ohio State University a $360,000 Project Grant under the CISE Federal Grant Program (CFDA 47.070) to develop HPCGPT, a generative AI-based question answering service to enhance user support at academic high-performance computing (HPC) centers. Through this 3-year award, HPCGPT will leverage large language models, retrieval-augmented generation, and integration of diverse data sources to provide high-quality, timely answers to HPC users, reducing the workload on user support teams. The project is a collaborative effort with Princeton University and Rutgers University, and aims to significantly improve the quality, capacity, and efficiency of HPC user support services without increasing human effort.
