This $649,960 Project Grant award from the National Science Foundation's Mathematical and Physical Sciences program (CFDA 47.049) supports the University of Nevada, Reno's acquisition of a 500 MHz nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectrometer console and probes. This state-of-the-art NMR instrumentation will enhance multi-disciplinary research in areas such as the chemistry of biological interactions, materials science, quantum information science, and sustainability. The upgraded NMR spectrometer will provide increased sensitivity and throughput, enabling advanced techniques like NMR-based metabolomics, eco-metabolomics, and structural characterization of natural products, polymers, and catalysts. This project will benefit over 20 research programs and more than 60 students and postdoctoral scholars at the university. No sub-awards are planned for this grant, which has an award date of September 1, 2024 and an ultimate completion date of August 31, 2027.
