The National Science Foundation (NSF) awarded a $149,882 Project Grant under the Integrative Activities (IA) program (CFDA 47.083) to Stevenson University Inc. on February 1, 2025. This award will be used to acquire an 80 MHz Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectrometer with a 20-sample changer. The NMR instrument will enhance undergraduate research and educational opportunities in areas such as synthetic organic chemistry, materials science, bioinorganic chemistry, and physical organic chemistry. It will enable the university to expand its research capabilities, particularly in the development of new metal-organic frameworks, anion-receptor compounds, and catalytic modeling of biological systems. The NMR spectrometer will provide hands-on access for a diverse population of students at Stevenson University and the Community College of Baltimore County, improving their preparation for STEM careers. No sub-awards are planned for this grant.
