The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL Fire) received a $13,333,333.00 Project Grant award from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service under the Inflation Reduction Act - Forest Legacy Program (CFDA 10.734). This grant will fund CAL Fire's Brushy Mountain Phase 3 conservation easement project from August 28, 2023, to June 30, 2028. The Inflation Reduction Act - Forest Legacy Program aims to identify and protect environmentally important forest areas threatened by conversion to non-forest uses through the use of conservation easements or fee simple purchase. This award will enable CAL Fire to further its mission of advancing forest resource management and conservation in California by establishing the Brushy Mountain Phase 3 conservation easement.
