This 3-year program will provide intensive mentored research experiences in psychology and neuroscience for 10 undergraduate students annually from public 2-year and 4-year institutions in the New York metropolitan area. Key program elements include:
- Immersing students from underrepresented groups in innovative psychology and neuroscience research
- Guiding students through the full scientific process from research question development to communicating results
- Engaging students in didactic seminars on research methods, data analysis, and professional development
- Enhancing students' competitiveness for graduate school and careers
- Training mentors to effectively support student researchers
- Providing research experiences for two local middle/high school teachers annually to improve science education
By delivering these comprehensive research and professional development opportunities, the REU Site aims to promote the engagement and training of the next generation of scientists.
