This federal Project Grant award from the National Science Foundation's (NSF) Division of Chemistry provides $501,233 to Texas A&M University-Commerce to administer a Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) Site program over 4 summers from 2025-2028. The REU Site supports the training of 9 community college students from the Northeast Texas region each summer, engaging them in collaborative research projects focused on analytical chemistry, renewable energy, catalyst design, organic chemistry, and biochemistry. The students also participate in professional development and ethics training, with an emphasis on science communication and preparation for graduate school and industrial careers. This REU Site aims to broaden participation in STEM fields by providing research opportunities to an underrepresented student population from nearby rural and urban community colleges.
