The Project Grant award of $625,000.00 from the National Science Foundation's (NSF) Mathematical and Physical Sciences (MPS) program supports the development of computational simulation and machine learning tools for accelerating the discovery and design of functional organic materials that interact with light. The principal investigator, Daniel Tabor of Texas A&M University, is tasked with integrating machine learning and artificial intelligence methods to build new efficient searching algorithms that can propose and test new molecules through computer simulations. Additionally, the project will create interactive educational modules on light-based materials and modern data science techniques for students at the high school, undergraduate, and graduate levels. The award commenced on December 15, 2023 and is scheduled for completion by November 30, 2028.
