This National Science Foundation (NSF) Project Grant award under the Integrative Activities (CFDA 47.083) program provides $1,704,632.00 to Pomona College to conduct a comprehensive national survey on research development and administration (RD/RA) functions at four-year colleges and universities. The project aims to sharpen understanding of the unique challenges and support needs of research-intensive but less-established institutions, including emerging and primarily undergraduate institutions. The survey will collect data on RD/RA staffing, activities, resources, and priorities to develop strengths-based and deficit-based modeling. The resulting findings will inform efforts to enhance national networks of expertise, communication, and service to support diverse research institutions. Pomona College has sub-awarded a portion of the work to the Research Triangle Institute (RTI International) to lead the survey development, deployment, and data analysis. This project will provide valuable new knowledge to help funding agencies and intermediaries better support research growth at a broader range of U.S. higher education institutions.
