This National Science Foundation (NSF) Project Grant award of $190,350 to Tarleton State University, under the Biological Sciences program (CFDA 47.074), will fund the construction of a new research laboratory at the Timberlake Biological Field Station (TBFS) in Stephenville, Texas. The laboratory will consist of approximately 952 square feet of wet and dry lab space to support environmental research, student engagement, and outreach activities associated with the TBFS. The wet lab will include aquatic research infrastructure such as tanks and aquaria, while the dry lab will provide facilities for specimen preparation, microscopy, molecular biology, and storage. This new research facility will complement existing TBFS infrastructure and enable the field station to better fulfill its mission as a model resource for environmental research, education, and outreach in the Edwards Plateau and Cross Timbers and Prairies ecoregions of Texas. The award period runs from September 1, 2024 to August 31, 2027.
