This $721,815 Project Grant award from the National Science Foundation (NSF) Office of Emerging Frontiers and Multidisciplinary Activities aims to support HR specialists in the technology and retail industries in using automated decision systems (ADS) more effectively and accountably for talent acquisition. The project, titled "COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH: FW-HTF-RL: TRAPEZE: RESPONSIBLE AI-ASSISTED TALENT ACQUISITION FOR HR SPECIALISTS", will develop the TRAPEZE framework to empower HR specialists to reason about, validate, audit, and influence the ADS-assisted hiring process. Additionally, the project will produce open-source software, training materials, and methodologies to help HR specialists become more informed, responsible, efficient, and effective in their use of ADS. This work will advance the understanding of the behavioral, social, legal, and technical contexts in which HR specialists make ADS-assisted decisions. A sub-award to Michigan State University will leverage their expertise in HR systems and the HR profession to assist in the design and implementation of the studies conducted under this project.
