The National Science Foundation (NSF) Division of Electrical, Communications and Cyber Systems awarded a $362,344 Project Grant under the Engineering program (CFDA 47.041) to the Regents of the University of Michigan, Office of Research and Sponsored Projects (doing business as the University of Michigan) to investigate the interaction between two quantum bits (qubits) in a semiconductor system. The goal is to create two site-controlled quantum dots in close proximity and exploit their interaction to develop a reliable process for a transient, on-demand controlled phase gate between electron spins. This research aims to advance semiconductor quantum dot technology as a foundation for quantum information science and engineering, while also training the next generation of scientists and engineers in this field. The award period is from August 15, 2023 to July 31, 2026.
