The Ohio State University received a $400,000 Project Grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) Social, Behavioral, and Economic Sciences (CFDA 47.075) program to conduct research on ethical concerns emerging within the autism community about autism research practices. The project aims to: (1) conduct focus groups with autistic adults, parents of autistic children, and autism researchers to identify ethical concerns about autism research; (2) create ethics training for autism researchers on conducting respectful and ethical autism research; and (3) evaluate the effectiveness of the training in fostering ethical attitudes for autism research. The project will run from Sep 1, 2023 to Aug 31, 2026. The findings from this research are intended to provide information and guidance to help autism researchers better understand and address the ethical concerns of the autism community.
