This Project Grant from the National Science Foundation's Division of Information and Intelligent Systems will support an applied computational robotics Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) site with $338,390 in funding. The site will provide a 10-week mentored research experience in computational robotics to 10 undergraduate students from undergraduate-serving institutions in the Southeast, with a focus on sophomores and juniors. Students will engage in scientifically-relevant individual or team-based research projects organized around the theme of robotics and computing. The projects aim to advance approaches to robot perception, control, and learning, as well as areas often overlooked but crucial for deploying reliable, trustworthy robotic systems. The REU site seeks to encourage participants toward graduate study and research-oriented careers in robotics and related computing fields. Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station will oversee delivery of the programmatic activities and research projects funded under this award from the National Science Foundation's Computer and Information Science and Engineering program.
