This Project Grant award of $300,000.00 from the National Science Foundation's Division of Information and Intelligent Systems will fund a collaborative research effort led by Florida International University (FIU) to develop AI-driven RFID sensing techniques for smart health applications.
The project aims to create more affordable, comfortable, and accessible health monitoring systems by leveraging advances in the Internet of Things and machine learning/AI. The research will focus on addressing challenges with noisy RF data and environmental interference to enable effective RFID-based sensing for applications like Parkinson's disease detection and interstitial lung disease monitoring. The team plans to develop new graduate-level coursework on deep learning for RF health sensing and provide hands-on experience for students in these cutting-edge technologies. Outcomes will be disseminated through publications, conferences, and open-source repositories. The project will also work to broaden participation from underrepresented groups in STEM fields.
