The National Science Foundation awarded Florida A & M University (FAMU) a $400,000 Project Grant under the STEM Education (formerly Education and Human Resources) program (CFDA 47.076). The goal of this 3-year grant, beginning September 1, 2023, is to develop interventions to attract, retain, and mentor underrepresented minority students in the Chemical and Biomedical Engineering program at FAMU. Key objectives include: 1) developing curricular enhancements in collaboration with industry partners, 2) engaging students in 3D bioprinting research projects, and 3) providing students with internship opportunities at national labs. These efforts are intended to motivate students, build their knowledge and technical skills, and improve their competitiveness for STEM graduate programs and careers. No sub-awards are planned under this grant.
