The National Science Foundation (NSF) Directorate for Engineering (ENG) awarded a $300,000 Project Grant to Kansas State University to develop a novel Electromicrofluidic (EMF) biosensing platform for comprehensive gene expression profiling. The 3-year project aims to create an automated system that can simultaneously analyze multiple protein isoforms and RNA splicing variants at the single-cell level, providing insights into complex biological processes involving cell-cell interactions and the cellular microenvironment. The project will focus on mapping the neurogenic NOTCH family proteins in migrating cell monolayers to evaluate their regulatory functions in collective cell migration. This award supports NSF's mission to foster innovation, creativity, and excellence in engineering research and education.
