The University of Dayton Research Institute Division was awarded a $199,186 National Science Foundation Project Grant under the Engineering federal grant program (CFDA 47.041) to conduct computational modeling of zeolitic nanotubes for chemical separation applications from August 1, 2023 to July 31, 2025. The Research Institute Division will use molecular simulation techniques to characterize the adsorption and transport behavior of newly synthesized zeolite nanotubes in a range of chemical environments. The results will provide foundational knowledge on the capabilities of these multiscale structures to inform the design of potentially transformative separation technologies. The Research Institute Division will incorporate the project results and computational methods into its undergraduate thermodynamics courses and high school engineering summer camps hosted at the University of Dayton to promote interest in separation sciences and statistical data analysis.
