The Lower Brule Sioux Tribe received a $337,380 project grant award from the United States Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service. The grant was awarded under the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR) on October 1, 2021 for a two-year period concluding on September 30, 2023.
The FDPIR aims to address food insecurity and improve nutrition for Native Americans living on Indian reservations. Through this funding, the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe will provide nutrition assistance and food packages to tribal members residing on or near the Lower Brule Indian Reservation in South Dakota through September 2023. The Tribe will oversee food distribution services as the sub-awardee carrying out the objectives of the federal grant program.
