This Project Grant from the National Science Foundation's Division of Mathematical Sciences, under the Mathematical and Physical Sciences program (CFDA 47.049), provides $203,751 to Kennesaw State University Research And Service Foundation, Inc. for research activities related to developing a holistic quantum-inspired framework for power system state estimation. Specifically, the awardee will conduct four main research activities: 1) designing a quantum network architecture for key distribution and secure communications in smart grids; 2) developing efficient quantum computing solutions for power state estimation, including preprocessing, optimization, embedding, and annealing; 3) proposing a robust distributed system state estimation approach leveraging quantum networking, computing, and deep learning; and 4) deploying and assessing the proposed framework on a quantum cyber-physical testbed to support state estimation in smart grids enabled by quantum technologies. This work aims to lay the mathematical and algorithmic foundation for applying quantum technologies to enhance security and situational awareness in power distribution systems.
