This $253,030 National Science Foundation Technology, Innovation, and Partnerships project grant will support the development of sustainable bio-based antioxidant products for industrial process fluids. New Page Strategic Consulting, LLC will utilize enzymatic digestion of agricultural biomass to generate peptide antioxidants as alternatives to synthetic antioxidants currently derived from petroleum and used in processing and storage of industrial fluids such as vinyl monomer. The peptides have potential to replace synthetic antioxidants across multiple industries, improving environmental sustainability and safety over existing options. Work will focus on process compatibility and stability testing of the peptide library in representative fluids under industrial conditions to validate performance in initial target applications and lower barriers to commercialization of peptide antioxidants. Outcomes aim to deliver safer, greener antioxidants for stabilization of important industrial processes.
