This Project Grant from the National Science Foundation's $470,298 Engineering program (CFDA 47.041) supports research at the University of California, Davis to develop scalable nanomanufacturing processes for organic electronics using laser patterning in a continuous solvent flow liquid cell. The research aims to modify existing photolithography tools and methods to enable optical micropatterning of organic semiconducting polymers into electronic circuits. This will allow for micro and nanopatterning, controlled doping and layering of a class of organic electronic materials that currently cannot be patterned into functional devices. Successful development of these processes is expected to advance applications such as chemical sensing, neuromorphic computing and medical diagnostics. The award was issued on September 1, 2022 and runs through August 31, 2025.
