The Stuttgart Chamber of Commerce was awarded a $773,349 Project Grant from the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) under the AmeriCorps Seniors Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) to support volunteer opportunities for adults aged 55 and older in four counties in southeast Arkansas through March 2024. The Stuttgart Chamber of Commerce, doing business as the Stuttgart North Arkansas County RSVP, will utilize an estimated 468 unduplicated volunteers to address food insecurity and provide support services to veterans, the disabled, and the elderly in Arkansas, Jefferson, Monroe, and Phillips counties. Specifically, volunteers will work to alleviate long-term food insecurity through measures such as food packing and distribution, financial counseling, and conducting a survey to assess food security. This funding furthers the RSVP program's goal of engaging older adult volunteers to meet community needs through significant volunteer services.
